Motivation
My name is Hsin-Yu Chang from Taichung, Taiwan. I am currently doing my research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shean-Jen Chen in Adaptive Photonics Lab of National Cheng Kung University in Tainan, Taiwan. I have experiences and interests in multiphoton fabrication in biology and graphene based material and SHG images.
I have been participated in the research of multiphoton fabrication since I joined Dr. Chen’s Lab. The main part of my thesis is photon-crosslinking via femtosecond ultrafast laser. In my thesis, I utilize multiphoton lithography to develop three-dimensional (3D) graphene oxide-based microstructures, and then apply them in 3D microelectronic device, photonics crystal, and semiconductor processing. My current work now is to develop bio-compatible graphene oxide-based microstructures and apply in the extracellular matrix.
Although the change of study topic from civil engineering to optical microfabrication at the beginning of my master study was struggling to me, it did help me find my interest and my future goal. Besides, with the cooperation with other research groups, I am able to access different aspects of research. The collaboration experience has broadened my field of view in optics research. I realized that optics can be related to many field and a good researcher is supposed to specialize in more than one discipline. It has inspired me to study more and pursuit a PhD position in an interdisciplinary environment. Furthermore, after the struggling of topic change, I am happy to take the challenge of learning new things instead of being afraid of it.
According to my research experiences, I am specifically interested in 3D microfabrication and tissue scaffold. I believe what I’ve learned in these two years can make contribution to your research. Besides, I want to advance myself in your lab to get a good start in my future academic career. Furthermore, I would like to discuss with you about the suitability of my research in your laboratory. Thank you in advance for taking me under consideration of being part of your team
